MIDWEEK MESSAGE – November 15, 2023

I read that “acceptance was the answer to all my problems.”  When I read that many years ago, I thought, “Sure it is; if life was just that easy!”

Over the years, I have realized how true that statement is.  True, but oh, so challenging to achieve.  When we think about acceptance as the answer to all our problems, it means we need to accept people, situations, places, the weather, the person who cut us off in traffic, or, for that matter – exes, people who have hurt us, and even our parents, no matter how our childhood had been!

It means we can’t play the victim anymore in our lives.  We can’t blame anyone or anything for our problems or misery. When we are in acceptance, we must begin to understand that everyone – even those who hurt us – was doing their best at the time.

That is true for ourselves as for others. We can’t live with should of’s, could of’s, or wish I had’s.  At any point in our life, we must remember that we were doing the best we could at the time. Accepting that means letting go of guilt, shame, envy, and anger (at ourselves).

In any situation, if we can accept that you are ok and I am ok, – we will find we are living life in a more loving and peaceful state. I don’t know about you, but I am much happier living from that emotion than the negative ones that ruled my life for so long.

Quote of the Week

“In the state of acceptance, there is a feeling that nothing needs to be changed, everything is perfect and beautiful the way it is.  The world is to be enjoyed.  There is compassion for others and for all living things.”
