MIDWEEK MESSAGE
February 19, 2014
I was in a restaurant the other day and a TV was playing. There was a Nike commercial and the theme was “Play in the now.”
Are you playing or living in the now or are you wasting days of your life living in the past or the future?
The same day I saw the commercial I was going to a Bikram yoga class. As I got ready to enter into the hot room, it occurred to me that in less than a week, I would not be going to this much loved “yoga home” and seeing my “yoga family” for a long time. By the time I got into the room, my eyes were filling with tears as we began the first posture.
Then, however, the thought came to me that I could either waste the precious time I did have right now by being sad for something that had not yet happened or I could be present in the moment and enjoy the class. I chose to be in the moment and it was a wonderful class.
How often in our daily lives do we miss the opportunity for a great experience because we are not present in the present or for that matter, in “The Presence.” Today, try being present – play in the now, live in the moment and see how much more fulfilling life can be.
