MIDWEEK MESSAGE – May 6, 2020

Namaste! The second basic principle of Unity is that within every person there is a spark of the Divine. That may be easy to understand when it comes to those we love but what about the others?

You know who I’m talking about – the ones who cut you off in traffic, go into the express lane when they obviously have more than 12 items, etc. If such occurrences do not bother you what about the ones who do terrible things to others (maybe to you personally)? All we have to do is turn on the news and there are a lot of examples of people who make it difficult to see the Divine in them. Can we see the Divine in them?

This principle is either the Truth or it is not. Remember that God is the presence and the power that is always there, is the very nature of all life itself, the creator and the created and is good.

When someone does something we see as evil or bad, it is really a cry for love. We can actually help to end evil in this world when we see others as love – either expressing or crying out for it. This has been proven by such people as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Nelson Mandela.

Try this exercise (I suggest you start off small – maybe begin with that person that cut you off, the politician that stirs you up, or that neighbor who seems to be constantly trying to get you angry. Take a moment to close your eyes and breathe. While your eyes are closed say silently – Spirit in me sees the Spirit in you. Say it a few times and then open your eyes and silently say it while looking at the person. Whenever negative thoughts come up repeat the words till you can truly see Spirit in that person. Then try it on someone a little more difficult – maybe even yourself.

Quote of the Week

“It is not up to you to judge the journey of another’s Soul. It is for you to decide who You are, not who another has been, or has failed to be.”
