MIDWEEK MESSAGE – April 6, 2022

Remember the Rolling Stones song – “You can’t always get what you want, but you get what you need”? I find that to be true more often than not.

This past Sunday, I had the day off to get some well-needed spiritual nourishment. My heart wanted to go to a church I had previously visited because it had awesome music. I could envision myself being there. There is a saying that “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”

I wanted to go to this particular church; however, it was far, and we were running late. I, therefore, decided to find a church closer to home. I got the idea to go to a particular church that I did not ever want to visit, but this still small voice kept urging me to go, so off we went.

Thank God I have learned to listen to that still, small voice sometimes. The church, which I had prejudged before attending, was incredible. The music was great, and the message was just what Christopher and I needed to hear. It was so powerful; I took notes on my phone because I didn’t want to forget anything. I was undoubtedly spiritually fed way beyond any of my expectations.

I knew that I was just where I was supposed to be, even though it was not where I thought I wanted to be. Fortunately, the music opened my heart enough that I could hear the message without any preconceived ideas. I am so grateful that I don’t always get what I want – because my Higher Power always gives me just what I need, and it is always better than what I imagined for myself,
