MIDWEEK MESSAGE – August 23, 2017

Years ago, Shakespeare wrote, “To Thine own self be true”. That is as true today as it was then. It seems easy enough – just be yourself, but so often we are faced with peer pressure, parental pressure, societal pressure, media pressure – the list goes on and on.

In an effort to become what others think we should be we often sacrifice the very thing about ourselves that make us unique and special. We are all special, we are all unique, and we are all created by our Creator who does not make junk.

The next time you try to change yourself to be like someone else, remember that God did not create any two snowflakes a like. How boring would the world be if all the flowers looked the same, if every tree looked like every other.

We do not have to be like anyone else but ourselves. Just try to be the best you can be – that’s a job which is, in and of itself, challenging enough!

Quote of the Week

“Courage is being yourself every day in a world that tells you to be like everyone else.” Anonymous
