MIDWEEK MESSAGE – September 23, 2020

This week I had to call the IRS and it was not something I was looking forward to. I decided, having just spoken last Sunday about kindness to practice kindness, patience, and tolerance no matter what happened.

After being on hold for a while, I was connected with a representative. All the jokes we hear about the IRS, the horror stories, etc. were so far from what my experience was. Mrs. Moore, the person I spoke to, was kind, friendly, and helpful but also had a wonderful sense of humor and we actually spent some time laughing!

I was so grateful for having such a kind and loving person, I got her name and ID to write a letter of appreciation to her supervisor. I told her she had made my day and she said that I was her first call and she was happy because it would set the tone for the rest of her day.

The question is – was it luck that I got such a gentle person or was it because I set the intention before dialing that whatever happened I was going to kind, tolerant, and patient? The Truth is that our minds, hearts, attitudes determine our experiences.

Therefore, we have to stop looking outside of ourselves at our problems and look within – because our life is lived from within to without – not the reverse.

Quote of the Week
