MIDWEEK MESSAGE – September 1, 2021

With everything going on in the world, it is possible to allow all the negative news to overwhelm us. We might experience powerlessness and, perhaps, feel a little despondent when we forget our Truth Principles.

We must remember that there is only One Power and One Presence in the world and it is Good. We may not be able to change what happens with the weather, or across the world, or even in our neighborhoods, but we can change things on an individual level.

We are all, no matter what our political, religious, social, or economic status is, heading in the same direction – to God, Universe, Holy One, Allah, Jehovah, etc. Many paths leading to the same no matter what the name. So when we deal with the people we come into contact with, who are different than us, in a kind, compassionate, understanding, nonjudgmental, and loving way, we are in fact, making a difference in the world.

We do not live our lives from the outside in (although it may often seem that way). We live our life from the inside out. What we do to increase our connection with our Higher Power and with others changes things. By changing our perception of things, we change our attitude, our words, our beliefs, and our actions – and that in turn can change our world. Marianne Williamson said it this way, “Every problem emerges from the false belief that we are separate from one another and every answer emerges from the realization we are not.”

It is not a quick fix, but it is the greatest weapon we have. Jesus proved that, as did Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. By living their lives in principle and faith, they changed things in ways no one thought possible.

Let us too hold true to our faith and our beliefs that there is only One Power and One Presence, and we are all connected to it – whether we believe it or not.

Quote of the Week

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us, The Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Albert Einstein
