MIDWEEK MESSAGE – May 21, 2025

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending a retreat that not only gave me the chance to reconnect with some people I hadn’t seen in a couple of years, but also allowed me to spend quality time with my spiritual advisor. As a result, it was a weekend of insight and growth.

One of the most significant things I learned was the importance of accepting who we are and where we are in life. That doesn’t mean we aren’t open to change, but it does illustrate true humility.

For years, I believed that being humble meant diminishing myself, so I thought that expressing my shortcomings and downplaying my strengths were signs of humility. This belief is not only false but also contrary to the way we were created by the God of our understanding

I once heard that humility is not thinking more or less of ourselves. We are all created with unique gifts and assets by our Creator, and failing to acknowledge them means we are not recognizing our Higher Power.

Instead of focusing on what I cannot do or comparing myself to others, usually coming up short, I need to recognize my gifts and ask for the strength to be the person I was created to be. For me, it was an invaluable gift, and one I hope to put into practice.

Quote of the Week

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength tostart over again.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
