MIDWEEK MESSAGE – JUNE 3, 2020

In the world today it may sometimes seem as though, “What the world needs now is Love”. However, there is always Love because God is Love and that Love is present everywhere.

While there is Love, people are not always loving. Can you imagine what the world would be like if we were all more loving? We would have a world where there was no war, no famine, no violence, where people truly followed Jesus’ first commandment to “Love God and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.”

Therefore, maybe the problem is not a lack of Love but the fact that many people do not love themselves. They judge themselves as being unlovable, not worthy of love, and in some cases, actually dislike, or even hate themselves. So instead of loving their neighbor as themselves, they dislike their neighbor as themselves.

Jesus was not just telling us to love our neighbor, but to, also, love ourselves. If we want to change the world, we must begin by changing how we see ourselves. When we understand that God is Love and God is within each of us, then we would begin to love ourselves more. The more love we feel within, the more loving we become. The more loving we become, the more we can be the change we want to see in the world – and we will cease fighting anyone or anything.

Quote of the Week

“Once you overcome the hatred within your mind, you will discover that in the world outside, there is no longer any such thing as even a single enemy.” Rinpoche
