MIDWEEK MESSAGE – January 29, 2025

Every world religion teaches the importance of forgiveness, which is one of the greatest tools for spiritual growth and development. This is so significant that Jesus uses the word “forgive” 17 times, and that number increases if we include the terms “forgiveness” and “forgiven.”

Jesus felt that forgiveness was vital to our spiritual lives, so he told us not to pray to God (or meditate) until we resolve any unforgiveness we may be holding onto. Why is forgiveness so important to our souls’ well-being?

Forgiveness is an act of liberation from the bondage we create through the resentments we harbor from the past and any negative energy we hold against others. We must remember that we are not giving anything up when we forgive; instead, we are choosing to reclaim our lives. Learning to forgive unthinkable acts is likely one of the most challenging yet greatest gifts we can give ourselves.

Forgiveness is ultimately an act of self-love. It is one of the most compassionate things we can do for ourselves, demanding great courage and humility. Forgiveness promotes better health and wellness. Unfortunately, there’s no shortcut to learning how to forgive; sometimes, it requires considerable time.

However, if we set our intention on forgiveness and act from love, strength, and courage, we will eventually find the forgiveness that sets us free.

Quote of the Week

“The practice of forgiveness is our most important contribution to the healing of the world.”
