MIDWEEK MESSAGE – AUGUST 26, 2020

One of the constants in life is that everything changes. No matter how hard we work to keep things as they are, we cannot stop change from happening in our lives and in the world.

Last year at this time, could you have even imagined our world would look as it does today. That face masks would be the norm, that you could not attend your place of worship, that so many people would be out of work, so many businesses would be closed, that children would not be able to play outside and be kids and that school would no longer be in a building but in a computer?

Even more so, when this began, did you think it would be lasting as long as it has? The good news is that at some point it will end. No matter how things might look, the fact that all things have a beginning, a middle, and an end can bring tears to our eyes when it is something good, it is also true of things that are negative.

The Great Depression did end, as did World War I and II. Winter ends to bring forth Spring, but that too ends. Is it so hot now, you feel like you are melting? Wait some time and it will be so cold you will be praying for it to be hot again.

Therefore, if things are getting to you now, cheer up – this too shall pass! That is the great Fact of Life and the one constant of life that never changes.

Quote of the Week

“Everything changes but change itself. Everything flows and nothing remains the same…You cannot step twice into the same river, for other waters and yet others go flowing ever on.”
