MIDWEEK MESSAGE – August 10, 2022

When I think of people I respect and look up to and what traits they have that are similar, a common characteristic is that they all possess resilience. What does that word mean? It means:
1. bouncing back; rebounding;
2. returning to the original form after being bent, compressed, or stretched;
3. recovering steadily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like; buoyant.

Resilience is the ability to cope with adversity and to use challenges to forge strength and courage in our lives.. Having resilience does not mean that we don’t struggle, make mistakes, or need to ask for help. Resilient people keep plugging along even when the situation becomes ugly or exhausting.

Life often presents us with natural challenges, such as the loss of a loved one, health issues, financial stuff, etc. – as well as challenges in our minds – fear of losing what we have or not getting what we want.

While there’s no way to avoid sorrow, adversity, or distress in life, we can find ways to strengthen our ability to cope with things that have been an inevitable part of life since humans first walked on this earth.

Life happens, and often in a way quite different from what we want for ourselves. Still, when we can tap into a Power greater than ourselves, we will find the strength we need not just to endure life but to rise above our difficulties and become better people.

Quote of the Week

“Do not judge me by my success; judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
