MIDWEEK MESSAGE – April 23,m 2025
Early yesterday morning, I walked along the shore near a friend’s house, where I was house-sitting and dog-sitting. It was a beautiful spring morning, with heavy mist from an earlier rain covering the area. I love foggy mornings by the water.
The mist enveloped the water so densely that all you could see was the beach and the start of the shoreline. Everything beyond was a deep, thick curtain of fog. I knew what lay beyond because I had been in the same spot on a clear day just a day earlier.
It was just after Easter, which made me think about what it must be like for us in this world when we consider what comes after it. I believe that Jesus could endure the pain of the crucifixion because he had so much faith and trust, not only that there was a God, but that there was something beyond this world that was much better, and he was not afraid to go there.
Walking along the shore, looking out into the wall of gray, I thought maybe that is what it is like after this life. We cannot see what is there, but if we had faith that there is a Presence greater than us and that it is Love and Good, then whatever is beyond the veil of death must be better than the world we live in now.
I would like to believe that all our loved ones are somewhere out there, beyond the fog of this world, in a clear, bright, beautiful world that we all reach at some point. I believe Jesus had such a high consciousness that he knew the end of this life was merely a gateway to a better existence, one we cannot imagine due to the dense fog that envelops us in this earthly form.
I believe Jesus came to show us the way, and the message of Easter is that death is not the end; we can rise above everything, no matter how difficult, and on the other side is something better. So I will continue to trust that when the final fog is lifted, we will be at one with God and that it will be brighter and more beautiful than anything our human minds can comprehend.
Staring into the fog. I was grateful to Jesus for showing me the way to move forward in life, trusting a Higher Power that wants only the best for me because Love can do nothing less.
Quote of the Week
“Easter is the great feast of the triumph of universal grace… What we’re talking about creates a people of hope, and a culture of hope that doesn’t slip into cynicism and despair. Easter is saying, we don’t need to go there. Love is going to win. Life is going to win. Grace is going to win.”
