MIDWEEK MESSAGE
How do you look at the world? People? Do you assume everyone is out for themselves? To “get” you? So often, because of the news or stories we hear of all the negative stuff, we tend to think the worst of people.
I try to see the good; sometimes, I may be disappointed, but I am amazed by how many honest and good people there are. It is like seeing the glass half empty or half full.
Yesterday, I goofed up (which is not the first time and most likely will not be the last.) I had my bedroom and bath painted, and it came out great. I was in a rush when I went to pay the painter, someone I knew.
I used Venmo to pay him, and because of my rush, I did not enter a phone number to verify who it went to. To make matters worse, I typed in the wrong address. Later, my friend mentioned he had yet to receive the payment. I checked and realized I had sent it to the wrong person.
I sent my friend the money and then tried to find out how to get the money back. I erroneously sent a stranger. After being frustrated with the company’s response, I decided to ask the person to return it. So, I first prayed and then sent out the request. I got a response almost immediately, and the money was returned.
If we genuinely believe that our thoughts determine our lives, we must stop thinking everyone is out to get us and try to see the good in others. If it is not easy, we pray for help to see the good around us. The more we look for good in others, the more we see the good.
Quote of the Week
“It never hurts to see the good in someone; they often act the better for it.”
